Mezzanine Swimmers - Kneelin' on a Knife

An early morning drive. Beats and rhythms blur with rows of planted pine passing by the side window. Fog lingers near the ground as sunlight scorches its lofty reaches high above. Kneelin' on a Knife plays in the worn out cassette deck, the magnetic head's contact with the tape is not all that good. Sounds are a little blurred themselves from the physical transfer, but this only adds to everything congealing together to make perfect moments. Mezzanine Swimmers swirls and sheds sonic goo. Thoughts become saturated with melodic globs of decaying pop substance, the morning will indeed be good.

Kneelin' on a Knife spins quickly and disappears, five tracks under twenty minutes. Mike Green is the lone force behind all of the sounds. He approaches sounds with a reverence for nostalgia then melts it almost all the way down. Wise enough to know hooks are hooks no matter how rusted and distorted they are. The third track titled Leesburg Portal is the shortest and most deviated. Approximate Homes follows this momentum with a little slower pace. These two selections balance the start and finish of Kneelin' on a Knife very well. Mike Green wraps everything up with the longest piece titled Cannibals' Lies. A dubbed out blend of Sunken's New Zealand Eels lp mixed with Augustus Pablo's East of the River Nile, or at least that's what thoughts worked around to.

An Already Dead Tapes and Records release with one hundred and twenty five to go around. Over a hundred have sold and very few remain. Almost two full years ago Lost in a Sea of Sound had the pleasure describing Black Cat In Heat by Mezzanine Swimmers. Kneelin' on a Knife is a little more fractured, Mike Green is perfecting his crazing in the sound medium and it is getting really beautiful.
Oh... forgot to include Athen's Michael Potter did the mastering, another ear for the good. The artist creating the cover Preston Spurlock, also made a video for the second track Sexy Apology.
