Adam Pacione - Any Way, Shape, or Form

In the depths of consciousness thoughts trudge through the mires of sorrows and joys. Like on land, each step saturated with water, each step an effort to move forward. This intertwining of physical mediums creates an environment of time slowed movement. Details of the surrounding world become sharply visible, beauty uniquely attuned. Through this saturated soil, minds are focused towards paths of tedious steps to tranquility. The journey to grow love and compassion having difficult steps through spongy ground. This journey lasts a lifetime and always surfaces in the moments we spend alone. Enter the sounds from Adam Pacione. Gorgeously long selections balanced with perfect amounts of hopefulness and despair. An odyssey for the nexus of thoughts finding the magnificence in the tangles we move through.

In 2009, Adam Pacione had a run of recordings titled the "Still Life" series, available on 3in CDRs and offered through subscription on his label Bee Eater Recordings. The series began with number two because the first was "A Still Life" 3in available as a bonus with the first two hundred purchases of "From Stills To Motion" a full length compact disc on Infraction Records. In 2008, I purchased "From Stills To Motion" from Infraction Records and have enjoyed this composition as a favorite since then. Unfortunately i was past time for the bonus 3in, the first in the eventual subscription series. Reviewing the offered sonic output from Adam Pacione, The "Still Life" series makes a good portion of what Adam has made available. While there are some of these 3in releases available on discogs, the first in the series "A Still Life", is not one easily obtained and there are a few that would be $30 by the time it was purchased and shipped. This all seems technical on Adam Pacione's discography and what is out there to acquire, but it leads to where we are at now with this magnum opus release from Austin's Elevator Bath. Bringing a most gorgeous subscription only series, over a decade old, to present with a presentation of classic beauty, a work embodying the highest thoughtfulness.

The descriptive words for Adam Pacione's work are ambient, drone, experimental, i think i even saw dark drone.... This might be the fastest way to classify and organize Adam's compositions, but this would be akin to describing the magnificent varying shades of sunrise and sunset simply as morning or evening light. Accurate, but hardly beginning to portray this finite unsurpassed beauty. As we listen to the over four hours of sound on Elevator Bath's offering for Adam's works, Any Way, Shape, or Form, this is like the light experienced as the sun meets the horizon. A difficult time for even photos to capture, much less for most individuals to describe.

The description here will be the feeling of classical music. This is derived from listening to the selections on Any Way, Shape, or Form for weeks and then listening to Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings. These recordings from Adam Pacione invoke a grandeur of feelings tightly woven within in the heart. Our aches and solace greeted by music, a hand extended forward to comfort and guide us through the mire of feelings we experience each day. Classical music has preformed this feat for centuries, now Any Way, Shape, or Form takes position to shed thoughtfulness to the ebb and flow of feelings we each have. The argument that all music is companion to feelings could be said, but the work of Adam Pacione, and many classical composers is much more delicately balanced. We sway on the precipice between lament and triumph, but so many times are just lost in between. A very difficult place for music to exist, most of the time bending to the extremes. Any Way, Shape, or Form is centered and helps thoughts to focus at the minute intersections held deep within the conscious. Really amazing work.

Elevator Bath has pulled from the Adam's subscription series over ten years past and placed everything together as one.
