cursot - Haulin' Minds

Skateboarding on a sidewalk, the rhythms of the seams in cadence with how fast you pump. The noise from the street overlaying the canvas of wheels against concrete and the continual click of rolling over each cut. This is an old part of town and nothing is too smooth. The droning rhythms experience broken sections from tree roots and misuse, a solid path filled with patches of chaos infused by time. A row of storefronts with open doors, enticing music and smells beckon. An area under construction and detour through the street, machinery so loud the current soundtrack is deafened. The board and skater push on into a place not familiar anymore. The path becomes electric, travel is within the mind. Beats and rhythms transfused from the physical to the ethereal. Haulin' Minds has shared the trajectory to higher vibrations.

Cursot is the project name for Garrett Anderson. His genius for music adrift in the chaos of an asteroid belt. Collisions and calamity giving way to sonic fragments of beauty.  Haulin' Minds is two side long tracks that really play as one lengthy composition. If anything, the Disconnected side could be a little more grounded while the Haulin' Minds b side travels into a more warbled world. The entire listen is one long trip, familiarity of playing a upbeat record at home to looking through a hazy portal of unknown revel. The true beauty for Haulin' Minds is there are no boundarie, a lovely crazed rhythm persists throughout. Beauty from sound is held in hand, but is only there like a bird choosing to rest. The potential to dart and fly away seems to perch on the finger as Cursot patiently feeds aural seeds for the mind to absorb.

Cassettes released on the KMAN 92.5 label out of Los Angeles, California. I just had to stop myself from typing FM. Copies of Haulin' Minds are still available, but there are only six remaining from a super limited run of twenty five. This is the second visit by Lost in a Sea of Sound to KMAN 92.5, the first being Julia Bloop's Uncut Carrara album from last year. The label is worth all the time to keep an ear on, limited releases of superb artists. Garrett Anderson's project Cursot is also part of a bigger connection as Garret is the curator of the Michigan label Flophouse. So basically listen and enjoy this intersection of creative energy and travel to all the places these sounds lead.
