Talkdemonic - Very Cool Yesterday

This morning (November 8th, 6:15am, Enterprise, FL) i saw space debris streaking across the sky. Was out walking the dogs and did not have any way to capture the event. There was a silent beauty to this streak of clumped burning objects. Sadly, an early precursor to how much junk floats in the atmospheres above. The new album Very Cool Yesterday is now my soundtrack to the visual witnessed minutes ago. The melodies within are gorgeously serene but at the same time there is a slight permeating melancholy feeling to some of these tracks. Like the space debris, beautiful but stemming from a growing future problem. This creates the thought, a deeper meaning than what we just see or hear. This is also how Very Cool Yesterday resonates. Captivating and introspective, a composition built from tranquil roots with a reflective atmosphere pressuring down.

Talkdemonic is the long running project of composer/musician Kevin Timothy O'Connor. With elegant instrumental albums spaced out over twenty years, Very Cool Yesterday is probably the most ambient a intimate of the discography. Twelve selections, close to forty minutes in total, a extremely fluid listen with balanced patient energy. The longest selection Book of High Mountains sounds exactly as the title, a climb to a hidden peak to witness the morning sun rise (or space debris). Possibly a pinnacle of all tracks on this composition for radiant spirits. In the other direction, Thanksgiving '23 is the most somber and reflective. The extremes of vibrancy among all selections is delightfully tangible making Very Cool Yesterday a gorgeous choice to decompress with.
