LIFE EDUCATION - Gemütlichkeit
The century old clock tower rises above buildings and trees. A face with a slowly spinning mustache continually looking into the distance. The town's people gather in the park below, friendly interactions,
relaxing quite moments are all part of the days making years, then
decades. Entire lives have had the reassurance the presence this structure provides. Hourly chimes are the aural reminder, the accepted warmth, inner workings bestowing aural certainty and piece of mind. A few have seen the inside, giant gears and weights, wires and cords, spindles running through wheels, thick steel bells waiting to sound. LIFE EDUCATION knows this machinery. LIFE EDUCATION is the caretaker and the winding energy.
Gemütlichkeit is a German word for warmth, friendliness and good spirits or at least that is the closest definition we can give it in English. Why the clock tower analogy? After listening to Gemütlichkeit many times, a mechanical feeling seemed to ensue. Like being inside the tower gear room, thousands of parts working together to produce one goal. The skill to hand build this mechanism, the love of creating something that will last for centuries, and the feelings of countless people over generations who will hold this in common. These factors combined together transcend the inanimate, like the music box holding more sentiment than metal prongs and ordered pins. Gemütlichkeit has an affability that starts with the first track and never stops. For a composition that is near fifty minutes in length and divided between eleven tracks, this is an impressive point. LIFE EDUCATION is the project of Patrick R. Pärk. With releases under the projects Kösmonaut, LIFE EDUCATION and his own name, Patrick has focused this time on creating sounds that have left the introspection behind.
