Rrill Bell - Blade's Return

"An audio fable, This is the story of Blade, a fine crafted handsaw, former soldier of fortune, in the time of the timber wars, who renounced extraction for The Man, before retiring to the solitude of a shack on the plains. This is the story of Blade's return to the forest, where he gave up cutting, to sing a song of regret and seek redemption."

This is the opening preface to the story of Blade's return, a extraordinary composition of music with a story to bind and give purpose. Four parts, each beautifully portrayed in sound and story of the return of a fighter. A entity filled with suspect decisions, glorious triumphs and emotions crossing the spectrum.

Part I, The Retrun, is living ambient  forest filled with faint tribal rhythms and swelling vegetation. Both forest and creatures within vibrant and ominous. There is a building anticipation, a stage of sound being set. Listeners invited in to bask in the experience of Part II, Lament. If there is any reason to connect music and story, Lament is a complete apropos example. The playing style of Rrill Bell (the artist), and instrument of choice goes superbly well with the tale. These features give Blade's Return a purpose beyond so much music out there. It's just really special and well done. Part III, Atonement gathers spirits of the forest with higher calibration of energy. Blade's forgiveness by the surrounding living energy is wrought with a shimmering sonic glow of sound. All drifting into the canopy above with mesmerizing prowess. Part IV, Release is the culmination of the story. The shortest all all chapters before while also the most jubilant. A forest fireside celebration like none we have ever heard.
