Meadow Argus - This Old Rotten Barge

A swell of sounds beginning with a density only Meadow Argus can maintain. Drone music with pixel like detail, a descriptive combination that seems to somehow oppose itself, but listen to This Old Rotten Barge and begin to understand. There is a definite tilt towards the bleak despair life can circle too. Meadow Argus rides these feelings with a sublime ease, allowing listeners to feel the emptiness and at the same time keeping the conscious fully saturated with enigmatic roar.

With both sides of This Old Rotten clocking in around twenty five minutes, this composition weighs as a heavy. Various recording locations, under a bridge near the Ohio river, inside an aquarium, and in a wheelchair rolling down a hospital hallway for surgery, make these selections uniquely diverse. With the tape manipulating skills Meadow Argus uses, loops, splices, backward voices and special ability to hear and record the source material, This Old Rotten Barge resounds superbly as a sonic statement to experience moving with creative foundations. Many listeners will never begin to understand how complex and special this approach is, and when completed by someone who works to continually understand, this aural landscape becomes a beautifully unique fixture in our reality.

Released on cassette in an edition of thirty two. Tapes are snuggled in a hand-sewn fabric pouch. There are a few different fabric patterns, but they all are striking. Inside includes card stock with all the tape information. The very limited run is down to only eight copies at the time this description is written.
