Carrageenan - Distorted Reality
A full high dive into perfect rhythmic churn of dark vibrant water. Resting bellow are sharks, barracuda and razor edged coral. This is how Distorted Realty begins, with twenty minutes of back to back tracks titled "Death Picks Pt. 1" and "Death Picks Pt. 2". A slow marching cadence driving listeners to the edge of realities. A place where safety and peril divide leaving conscious on a thin precipice. A place where the luscious Lentibulariaceae family resides. Only now, in future evolution, drums call listeners and notes are gestured in solfège as instructional cues for the final gathering in the City of Domes.
Carrageenan is the project of Matthieu Levet, a Brussels based artist creating music for a long time now. Distorted Reality is a lengthy twelve track cassette release on Brooklyn's Jollies label. From the opening rhythm, thoughts dance to mechanical marionettes marching in obscure unison. Crafted from bone splinters and hardened mud, the images and sounds burn pathways into dreams. These selections are heavy, you can hear the trodden path of Carrageenan and listen as it crests over a hidden horizon in the not so distant future.
