Aperus - Lost Tribe of the Shadow

Carried through a droning current saturated with the heaviness of Tartarus, an understanding of distant worlds flickering from sonic static to crystalline clarity seems tenable. The aural message becoming gradually more soluble with each listen of Lost Tribe of the Shadow. This focus then pulls away, slipping back through the conscious thresholds to leave thoughts adrift in the aether. There are moments within this composition signifying the connection between our physical presence and the source of these recondite sounds. The fifth selection is an instance of this tie. Titled "A Debt to Our Ancestors", this percussive based selection has a rhythmic quality sewn within our tribal roots. Directly following this track is "Graffiti Ghosts" which moves forward through millennia capturing rhythms from a post modern industrial era. The entire composition is obscured by sonic mist and is very much identified by the longest and very gorgeous track "A Dark Age". Aperus is the project of Brian McWilliams and this release Lost Tribe of the Shadow holds repeated listening value to a maximum. To qualify how beautiful these sounds are is the subtle tether to early works of ambient heavies like Steve Roach, Alio Die, VidnaObmana and Robert Rich.
