Karm - HAKO
Intimate sounds from artists with patience and reserve. This live recording is the echo of a saturated sonic world. A burning ember filled with nucleic acids conveying structures in sound for generations after. Melodic skeletons stripped of warming flesh, they move with grace and measure creating their own sense of accord with the conscious. The composition unfolds as stepping stones through turbulent water. Firm ground with each artist and their instrument as the sounds from other instrument(s) lap in the recess of thought. There are moments when the sonic energy gathers, all sharing equal intensity, but these crescendos give way to singular sonic focus and the dance of energy all around.
Karm is the duo of Michal Wróblewski and Torsten Papenheim. While playing shows in Japan, at a performance in Tokyo, they were joined by Kohsetsu Imanishi. HAKO, the title of this release is also the name of the gallery in Tokyo where the recording was made. On the first side of the cassette we listen to Michal playing alto saxophone & clarinet and Torsten playing acoustic guitar & objects. On the second side Kohsetsu joins with the koto. These sounds are for those with appreciation for sonic peregrination. Aural landscapes unfolding over distant time and space, room for others to share warmth from their home hearths as accompanying spirits along the path.
Released on cassette by Ma Records out of Prague, Czechia. Michal Wróblewski and Torsten Papenheim as Karm have another release on the label from a couple of years back. As said in the beginning, HAKO is an intimate recording filled with space colliding gracefully in our thoughts.
