Magnus Lassila - Optimus De LXXIX Lunae
Before digging in on Optimus De LXXIX Lunae, wanted to note this is a very limited release of only twenty cassettes. With a release date coinciding with the most recent total lunar eclipse, the super moon, there are only four cassettes remaining at the time this is written. Fluere Tapes released a previous Magnus Lassila album titled Underwater Music in early 2021, this is long since sold out. So basically, if you like these sounds, Magnus Lassila and Fluere Tapes, there is no time to wait.
With an hour of music divided over eight tracks, Optimus De LXXIX Lunae has the time and space needed to explore aural ambient horizons. Drifting stasis, emptiness touched by energy brushing against the protective shell. Fully charged symphonic extravagance, the pulse of gravitation pull across the solar systems expanse. Magnus Lassila taps into the cosmic current and channels sounds beyond planetary perception. The album crescendos with the longest track Orthosie, a faster paced rhythm burner nosing in to mind and body. The last track S_2003 J 24 is an excellent example of the diversity on Optimus De LXXIX Lunae. Sonic waves collected from distant sources revealing fragments over information and continual speculation.
A fascinating aspect of Optimus De LXXIX Lunae is the origin. The selections on this tape were curated from a project starting in 2022 resulting in nineteen hours of music and lasting for a year and a half. Fluere Tapes has pulled from this to create the hour of music for Optimus De LXXIX Lunae. They also have a great description of this on their bandcamp page.
