Andrew Anderson - Thresholds
The most perplexingly beautiful aspect to certain compositions is the ability to render a complexly detailed warmth in sound, yet the overall perception is forlorn and uncharted. Andrew Anderson has most exquisitely achieved this state. Field recordings from vibrant energies, rebuilt around each other in a live setting. These sounds roll through the conscious like massive swells in the open ocean. A dense molecular embodiment of sonic balminess surging past past our single point of reference. The flow moving away, space and tranquil emptiness until the distant expanse begins to fill again. The two selections on the first side perfectly balance slow build tapestries of sounds through space and emptiness. Both selections implode with aural vectors settling deep into the conscious. A brush of harshness, thickets of mystery and the tranquility of wooded clearings nestled far within the din.
The second side increases details, sonic radiance contracting to burrowing focus though stagnate thought matter. An aural nexus, a cacophony of sounds all arriving in one long moment. Rolling drone of synthesizer or organ eliciting nostalgic temperament. A canvas heavily saturated with glacial eruption and crackling intensity. The world then empties and clears. Thunder in the distance is the most subtle drum roll for a disturbing choir of countless voices. Andrew Anderson continues the haunt with an unleashing of voracious monsters. The snarls and hissing forcing listeners back and away from any affinity previously held.
