ADAM LION & EVAN LIPSON FEAT. JAKE SMITH - That Which is Placed Upon the Altar
Talent, experience and creative inception, a peregrination of phonic frontiers. The sounds from these instruments talk to listeners with completely alien syntax. The musicians / artists at the helm, shepherding vibrations with utmost patience and grace. Two selections creating perplexingly beautiful long moments, crystal clear disquisitions for music scholars and sonic infatuates. The trio of performers consists of Adam Lion on vibraphone and percussion, Evan Lipson on double bass and Jake Smith on electric guitar (second track). The sounds within are completely shaken and slowly poured directly into conscious crevasses. Listening producing questions of technique and timing, pushing us towards meeting the artists at least half way. There is an investment need for receiving this album. The artists have invested entire lives and rest at distant places, waiting for listeners to finally arrive.
This is a collaborative release on compact disc. The two labels are H&S Ranch out of San Antonio, Texas and the label Klanggalerie from Vienna, Austria. Physical copies are available from both label's websites. These sounds were recorded in 2025 by Jake Smith at The Crow's Nest in Knoxville, Tennessee.
