Meredith Bates - The Observer Effect - Books I & II

Easily the most sincere and touching ambient recording i have heard in a long while. Sonic complexities saturate the entire composition and within any single moment we hang suspended. The balance between detailed depth and natural tranquility is very tenuous. Meredith Bates composes with a subtle saturation of sound components. A process requiring expert understanding of how heavy and diverse the dials can be turned without disturbing the underlying gossamer fabric. Throughout this composition listeners will enjoy diverse creativity but never so much as to turn thoughts away from stimulating serenity.

With two compact discs in this album, The Observer Effect - Books I & II spans close to 140 minutes. Five of the seven total selections have the length needed to change temperament. At times the push is slightly darker and holds feelings of more mysterious energies. There is also momentum to go in the opposite direction, harnessing a higher vibration for spiritual soothing. Sometimes this dark-light hinge rests within each track but overall the biggest swing is between Book I and Book II. The second compact disc feels less heavy and the last track, 3rd Incantation (binding), ends with a rhythmic and percussive departure.

Meredith Bates is an artists with as much creativity as experience. Sometimes writing about persons with so much talent and acknowledgement makes the en devour daunting. The basis of this entire blog kicks in and helps. Hopefully something connects between these words, the artist and all listeners, present or future. We find something (this post) taking us to a place such as The Observer Effect - Books I & II and the sounds radiate within our spirits. This composition is definitely a pathway.
