African Ghost Valley - Ferrari-Pharoah

Ferrari-Pharoah begins with subtle sophistication, a percussion filled ride up from ambient space, sampled spoken word broadcasting the humanitarian exploits of the Pharoah. On the first side, gorgeous ambience is gently brushed with melody and rhythm. This is especially evident on the fourth selection titled "Hyeres Les Palmers", a landscape of wandering wonder. "MTL" has a similar flavor with the drone like serenity turning slightly more man made. Almost an organic industrial filament within. After flipping the tape, the gravitron spins with a rotational velocity bent on pushing sound waves against the structural frame. Contorted sounds pushed and pilled upon. A listening space far from center as African Ghost Valley crafts sonic mystery under a building g-force.

Providence Hill is the lone fifteen minute track on side B. The sounds within swirl and clash with chaotic energy. African Ghost Valley starting with a pulsating rhythm behind a surging electric storm. Beats disintegrating to reforming later in broken new patterns. These sounds are beyond the fringe, listening on the edge to the sonic updraft from a sprawling abyss. Time lost definition as cacophony reigns with sublime beauty.

Released on New York's Ephem-Aural label. Cassette editions in an unknown amount. African Ghost Valley is the project of Childe Grangier. The is the fourth time for Lost in a Sea of Sound, previous descriptions can be found with this link. Have listened to Ferrari-Pharoah many times now and repeat listens always reveal more intricacies.
