Ermete - s/t

The approach is so crucial to the final outcome. Ermete conveys this in sonic splendor. An ambient drone burner, heavy and saturated. Reading the bandcamp description tells of the recording being made live, with the most sparse amount of overdubs and processing. Ermete strives to keep a singular organic quality, the connection with the true source of sounds being created. Results are excellent, the tape played with decent volume and a sub submerses the conscious. Rather than an ethereal float on the introspective carpet, we are pressurized by heavy molecules, moving in the patterns Ermete directs as deep sonic currents.

The first side of the cassette is one long track titled 29°00′N 13°44′W (I-II-III). This location is on the Spanish volcanic island Lanzrote. The second side holds to beautiful pieces Magnetic Drift and Distant. Listening to both flips of the tape, side A is more grandiose. Aural images of volcanic energy, the deep connection to molten currents below the crust, the impact of eruption and surface exposure, a change in landscape held in perpetuity for all civilization to see. Ermete holds sonic value at the highest level, and 29°00′N 13°44′W (I-II-III) is an incredible aural experience to take in. Best done with time and something decent to listen with. Side B is just as entrancing but the heavy is dialed back with well balanced accord. Especially digging Distant, as if this is part of the human genome. Feels nostalgic and warm.

Released on Sud Afternoon Tapes in a very, very limited edition of twenty tapes. Please do not miss out! Ermete is the project of Luca Umidi and this is a debut album! Also this is Sud Afternoon Tapes third release with the first two being last year. Perfect time to begin following and stay in tune. All physical copies are still available, but only a few from last year.
