Fletina - Environments & Mechanisms
Inner workings, elements and materials in rhythmic flux. The sounds produced continue on with out notice. Focus is elsewhere or distraction prevails. Occasionally the surrounding medium fades in large detail while the smallest attributes are flushed to the epicenter. Environments & Mechanisms anchors thoughts in these foundations. The lowest whirl and buzz pulsating with slow and settled accord. The repeated sequence of systematic movement trudging or squeaking in hypnotic pitch. Interesting how freely the conscious can travel with no bearing across a sparse sonic landscape accompanied by Fetina. Then we read the track titles, Basement / Washing Machine, Ground Floor / Elevator, Kitchen / Electric Oven and Back Room / Printer. This mysterious audio world is within our own homes. Thoughts become fastened to mechanisms we know and deeper thinking puzzles the relationships. Fetina has taken basic mechanics and orchestrated sonic gracefulness. There is a dark tone within, nothing haunting or unnerving, more raw and extremely fascinating. Most of all entrancingly fluid.
Released on cassette by the Bulgarian label Mahorka. A very limited run of only fifty physical editions. A first time for a Mahorka release on Lost in a Sea of Sound, with both label and blog being around for a similar number of years. Nice to meet you! Most delightedly, this is the second time LIASOS has listened to and penned words for Fletina. The first was over a year ago for a release titled The Given Moment on the Ireland based label Fort Evil Fruit. Also an edition of fifty cassettes long sold out. Fletina is a Scottish based project with much to explore on the bandcamp page.
