Wilson Tanner Smith - Perpetual Guest

Thank you Wilson Tanner Smith. So much work went into this recording. As a listener, there is a strong affinity for harmonium and organ based albums and with all that is available to experience, Perpetual Guest will hold a special place. Not only did you write and play the music, you rebuilt the harmonium these sounds are played upon. With all that is going on just a stone's throw from where these recordings were made, all the work and inspiration is very special. Really listening, the time when distractions are at bay and thoughts open and metabolize compositional harmonium energy, is profound. A state of being where thoughts dip into feelings and sink deep into the body. Sounds marinating through time and imagination, creating succulence in a world of fast and vacuous everything.

Perpetual Guest holds five selections with the beginning, middle and end more of the anchors. This is interesting, selection two, Cheery Picking and selection four, University of Culture are almost interludes both in tone and duration. Amazingly, from as soon as play is pressed Wilson Tanner Smith deeply connects and resonates with pure delight. The tone of the rebuilt harmonium are incredibly satisfying. Warm nostalgia with tilt towards heaviness, maybe both of those elements always work together.

Released on the Austin, Texas label Sawyer Editions. Compact discs are available on their own or part of bundle #9. Beautiful artwork and presentation to accompany the touching sounds within.
