Alford, Lipson, Peake - Cooked

I read the description on the Ramble Records site for this release titled Cooked and thought "wow", this is a really good description!

Chris Alford on guitar, Evan Lipson on bass and Justin Peake playing drums, three artists creating the classic combination for almost any genre. What do we get? Not that, pretty much off the charts, no category of sounds for this session to group into. Cooked breaks down to four longer tracks with some short intermission selections in between. The length of this composition paired with mechanical prowess is astounding. This was not recorded live, as in front of an audience, which would be more mind blowing, but rather at Rat Faced Recordings Cookeville, Tennessee on 12/16/25. Pretty sure each selection is one take then mixed, and mastered by Zach Ramsey.

From the opening selection "Bucksnort" and the beginning of the longer subsequent track "Sweet Lips", there is a moment of nostalgic free jazz association. Somewhere in "Sweet Lips" this affinity dissolves leaving listeners perched on a sky scrapper ledge with a psychosis vibrating between the ears. Fortunately your on the bottom floor and the Alford, Lipson, Peake trio is playing in the lounge with the door wide open. This might be the most crucial feature of Cooked, interesting and inviting the entire way through. Sure, chaos is part of the palette, but the roaring din is always tended to.

Not mentioned because it's probably so obvious is the composition title, the recording location and the creativity of sounds being played. Nice title!
