Proud/Father - Symbolic Exchange & Emptiness

The heaviness is all around. Responsibilities heaped in piles, like shoveled snow cliffs on the sides of a walking path. Movements through life require some type of unencumbered ingress and egress, sometimes it is just not there. For brief moments when snow covers all, the ant like lanes of man are filled and non existent, accountability is at rest. Creativeness seems to follow this cycle. Always trying to unearth it self from traveled routines. For most, creativity is gone for long periods of time, the few others, it some how establishes a well working harmony.

Proud/Father has returned with a cassette titled Symbolic Exchange & Emptiness. A year since his last release Creations for Electric Guitar. Both compositions similar styles in texture and feel, but Symbolic Exchange & Emptiness is more subdued. The faint rhythms on the last tape have vanished for the current offering. Now, four tracks embodying decaying drone, emptiness as in the title and destroyed segments causing thoughts of equipment malfunction. Subtle ambient warbling tones intertwined with recordings from the outside world. Hopefully this beauty is sustainable for Proud/Father, the first notes on his bandcamp page cause some worry. The energy and focus involved with creating this composition, the exploration through feelings and emotions, do provide positive spirit. The sounds within touch the heart and are well worth the listening exploration.

Symbolic Exchange & Emptiness is a January release on Orb Tapes out of Pennsylvania in edition of fifty. These have sold quickly leaving only one cassette currently available from the labels bandcamp page. Maybe you will be the person who receives the final physical copy?
