German Army - Endless Suburb

Quietness of a suburban nightfall. Is there really less surface noise and more space or has hearing attenuated from reduced sight? We listen into the distance. Motor sounds putter in a dispersed sonic wave, while the night bird sleepily chirps in a nearby tree. They create a richly balanced orchestra, with bass and treble canvased over the drone of tires on pavement and insects in a constant fiddle. The car alarm brings us back from the aspiring evening plane, crashing into realty. Disappearing in an instant with the flick of a fob as the prop driven airplane meanders in the unseen above. Returning to quiet with the rumble of distant exhaust of another Harley. The sporadic barking causes thought of territorial distress. Another aircraft drifts so far off, as the distractions of inner responsibilities begin to gently boil from this restful location. A well composed orchestra was just tuning up for the true composition of Endless Suburb.

Mind scrub. How else are you going to describe German Army? Sounds always beautiful and it is delightfully amazing how new ears enjoy these sonic passages. Endless Suburb is like listing to environmental messages from the saturated sea of the world around us. We fixate within the moment as a rhythm captures conscious. A complexity of cogs turn in relation to proximity delivering sounds above and below the resting drones. But unlike the natural chaos either tranquil or harsh, German Army has turned dials and adjusted meters. Their creativity phases with industrial outputs, sometimes a crystalline match of machinery and music, but more often drifting to harmony from an untouchable place. Ghosts and future apparitions playing decomposing sounds, saddening thoughts as we begin to understand this will be the last time these melodies are heard. As the selections on Endless Suburb continue to roll though, trance like states we awaken from cause note of how incredibly seamless this composition is. Much like the quietness of a suburban nightfall, we continually drift in long moments of thought, awakened by abrupt interruptions to the hazed out patterns. The difference is Endless Suburb is not a culmination of randomness, this composition is another resting point on the apex of so many albums before and more to come.
