Snowflake Orchestra - s/t

An antenna pointing upward into the surrounding abyss. A tuning knob is delicately turned, slowly scrolling through radio frequencies. Droning emptiness, then flurries of twisted energy. Somewhere in between these two extremes the dial locks in on the perfect balance. Tranquilizing sonic goo saturating the receiver, glimpses into worlds quivering with a radiance, all unable to be truly fathomed. Snowflake Orchestra is listening. Extending receptors into the cosmos to retrieve sounds from ternary, quaternary star systems and beyond. The static buzz of Trapezia systems ejecting matter as high velocity galactic stars. Then the eventual quietness of singularities bending sonic energy to be absorbed into nothingness. Stretch out on the ground and look up into the night sky, put your headphones on and the conscious will expand.

Joachim Henn and Günter Schlienz are the minds behind Snowflake Orchestra. Both artists bringing vast experience and talent to craft this lengthy composition of over fifty minutes. The track titles are simply sequential numbers, some of them as short as a few minutes with others reaching close to ten. The longer selections bring focus more into a world of meditative drone, some of which is perforated by cosmic particles. Swirling electronics scattering sonic stipples across an ambient canvass of quiescent richness. These energized aural eddies detach creating shorter pieces that oscillate in semi chaotic bliss. Wavering reception dancing on either side of a strong but faintly received bandwidth. This broad array of sonic diversity squeezes through a rhythmic pinhole on track number seven, the only selection holding on to a perceivable cadence from start to finish. Snowflake Orchestra offers beauty from both restrained and unrestrained creativity, something Joachim Henn and Günter Schlienz are excellent with on their own and pair so sweetly with together.

Cassettes released in an edition of fifty on the Cosmic Winnetou label from Stuttgart. This is one of three selections in the seventeenth batch. Fortunately physical copies of Snowflake Orchestra are still available, but Energy Trap by Cops and Schweben's release titled Trees are both sold out in the physical.

Cosmic Winnetou has a new vinyl release on deck. This is the duo of Teresa Smolnik and Günter Schlienz titled Smolnik & Schlienz. Be quick on this since almost every selection from the Cosmic Winnetou catalog sells out and special vinyl releases even more so. There is a link to get in touch a pre-order a copy.
