Warble and Fuzz - Various Artist
Warble and Fuzz bends lines to touch many sonic resting places. A collection of artists from the Drongo Tapes label world, sharing twelve tracks in about an hour of time. From cacophonous explosions of beat driven mayhem to placid tranquility of ambient goo, Warble and Fuzz holds ground across extremes. Looking at the the Warble and Fuzz catalog, a few of the artists have had Drongo Tapes releases after this various artist tape was released.
The most recent is Eniks Cave, with a new full length on the label titled The Holy Holy Noisemakers. Eniks Cave's track on Warble and Fuzz, "Glimmer Grass" is a wonderful warmup to what is held in the full length. Aural radiance using musical instruments in vibrancy.
Another artist with a post released full length that is still available is Archival Image. The track titled "Silver Cross" on this various artist tape is the longest in the lineup. A dreamlike waltz into an other world of alien tongues. The cassette full length in a really limited edition of twenty five simply titled EXO.
An artist with an already sold out post cassette is Skunk Ape. Their Warble and Fuzz track titled "Anthem For No Good Days", a sonic plunge into simmering tranquility. The Skunk Ape full length sold out cassette titled Ground Hums.
Xeh, Serpent Season, Butter Bean and Lost Chocolate Lab have had releases on the label but they are all sold out. Other artists on this mixed tape have appeared without any representation on the label to date, Power Strip, Folian, The Brankas, Juno and Death Hags. Most all of these with extensive histories worth exploring.
Going back a few years, Drongo Tapes released Wow and Flutter. This was their first various artist tape that is sold out in physical format. Also, there are a handful of Drongo artists with releases not included on Warble and Fuzz, and a few of them have physical releases currently available on the label. The takeaway from this, Drongo Tapes is finding really great sounds from wonderful artists. Their catalog is growing and cassettes always sell out. Warble and Fuzz is available and an excellent way to hear a focused array of different sounds as well as discover and support many different artists.
