Adam Void - New Depression Era Rambler

Just finished my fourth cup of coffee, now i can write with the frenzied energy that fills New Depression Era Rambler. Between the spoken word, sung poetry and electronic coding interludes, keeping pace with Adam Void's mental process is a challenging task. His sequence of tracks rewrites thoughts if you really listen and throws sonic bombs if you are just feigning attention. New Depression Era Rambler is amazingly congruent. A flowing composition, even though the first listen might cause a bevy of questions without answers.

Well cultured instability or merely a mirror of the life most of live? Listeners will wonder is this all Adam Void in various states and guises, or are these field recordings collected over time and meticulously connected together. This is just the poetic tracks, the electronic brainwashing of Adam Void's sonic turbulence is special unto itself. If we think about a "New Depression Era Rambler", we can assume modern sensibility is a product of preceding generations. Musical sustainability derived from all sounds arriving at the focal point. A wise rambler who understand the ebb and flow of current civilization. A step to the side and out of the current of society, collecting all that is discarded, considered as waste or past fashionable trends. This "New Depression Era Rambler" constructs life in unique accord, making hybrid folk music gems in the comforts of tape recorders and keen ears. Sometimes listening to this composition makes me think of The Residents a little bit and other times the bits and pieces Beck would incorporate in his first couple albums.

This cassette is released on the Cut In The Fence Label. Copies are available from here. Tapes are in an edition of eighty eight. This is an excellent composition and deserves all the time to listen.
