Jacken Elswyth - Banjo with the sound of its own making

The most important aspect of music is it's raw quality. This is certainly an opinion of one listener, but does this thought resonate with you? We so often hear music at pinnacles of adept playing skills and production prowess, but what if we are treated to the making of the instruments? Sounds involved with crafting and tooling of our favorite instruments. The ultimate rawness of an instrument in the manufacturing process, before even being able to be played. Jacken Elswyth has the creative chops to deliver something that has never been done before (that i know of). Combining sounds from the wood shop with banjo genius, highest praise from this listener.

Banjo with the sound of its own making includes eight selections of dazzling undressed field recordings with highly skilled and utterly creatively adept banjo playing. A best of two worlds, something raw, being hand crafted and a finished product to compliment. And as with many Jacken Elswyth compositions, a brilliant sonic relay of tradition mixed with trajectories in uniquely diverse imagination. Banjo with the sound of its own making is a step to the side from Jacken's Betwixt and Between split tape series label. This is a completely realized composition offering everything from meditative moments to energy saturated string radiance. Difficult to pick a favorite as this is a composition most suited to be heard in it's entirety.... and then repeated.

Released in an edition of eighty on London's Fractal Meat Cuts with less than ten remaining as this is written. There was also a wooden block edition of a dozen that sold out right away. Don't miss out on this if you are interested,  Banjo with the sound of its own making is just plain super cool.
