Germ Class - Felt Up

This is an emergency post... A first week of February release by Already Dead Records and Tapes is down to one copy remaining. There has not been too much time to dive into Felt Up, but for the handful of listens in hand, the level of fractured pop gorgeousness is seriously deep. Straight from the Already Dead description on Bandcamp, "Germ Class is a new trio featuring members of German Army and Stephanie Chan". The tracks on this album are warm, almost tropical, they hang heavy with humid saturating tones. A long time ago someone gave me a cassette of the first stuff 10,000 Maniacs put out. Felt Up reminds me a little bit of this. There is an edge, a creativity pushing past current parallels, but so absolutely enjoyable.

The most alluring aspect of Felt Up is the diversity contained within the album. Stephanie Chan sings on a good number of tracks, but not all them. Some are just instrumentals and a few others the baritone dreams of German Army take center. The second note of descriptive importance is the richness of sound contained within. This is a very well conceived composition, the creativity of thought and how much or little to put in is perfectly balanced. Rhythms and harmonies grab ears and cause toe taps then release to ambient drift and dreams. Listeners easily loose themselves and will return for the continued repeat. Felt Up will be on rotation for a good while to come.

This emergency post is brought to you by the national broadcasting conscious of someone who is listening. Already Dead Records and Tapes with one hundred to start is now down to one. Will you be the final physical copy owner?
