Kris & Tavi - Chiral
In the balance of energy, teetering weight is both cosmic and molecular. The progress of civilization has allowed consciousness to experience myriads of drastically heavy events tilted to one side or the other. In nature, these circumstances would most likely signify death and eventual extinction. Music is more of a harmless accord, subject to the direction of the artists and their emotions. Sounds filling the spectrum, from ambient to harsh noise and all things resting between. Listening to this album titled Chiral, the balance of harmony and discord with drifting vocal melodies is close to perfect as can be.
Kris & Tavi find a particular resonance evoking both ethereal and deeply rooted qualities. Voices like lullabies changing to subconscious higher vibrations. Strings played in timeless arrays of styles, nostalgic and comforting. Reverb reaching distant thoughts, pulling focus to the dreamlike voices and their intoxicating flavor. Many times comparisons of past artists have surfaced, but these are blurry and only fragments. Chiral is a new composition with momentary flashbacks to sonic energies of before. Kris & Tavi have crafted a beautiful body of work. The ability to sink deep within these lushly constructed selections is an aspect we all deserve to experience.
Released on cassette by the label Post Present Medium from Los Angeles. Tapes are limited to an edition of one hundred with copies currently available from the label. There is much to explore in Post Present Medium’s catalog and Chiral is an excellent place to begin.
