Grimório de Abril - The Glass Labyrinth

A waltz of cut stones lifted into place is the process to build an ancient civilization. Rhythms and sounds are the solace for tasks of endless repetitive actions. In the span of time, from stones being set in the rise of pyramids, to the cadence of fields being harvested by hand, The Glass Labyrinth falls into it's own special place. A mysterious amalgam of future beats and early eastern European gypsy serenades. We listen as juxtaposed beauty spins in balance then disappears into a world beyond.

Grimório de Abril is the sonic project of Veridiana Sanche. These selections were recorded in Brazil over the last few years. There is an other worldly fanfare to the sounds within. Courtly dances for the heart to warm and the mind to transport away. Beats connecting as spoken language is the tongue of divine beauty. Veridiana Sanche creates sounds within an elusive space, nostalgic and dreamlike qualities pushing through an enigmatic excursion of present and future moments in time. Interestingly, Lost in a Sea of Sound has had the pleasure to listen and describe a few compositions from the Brazilian Municipal K7 label. The Glass Labyrinth would fit nicely within this label's catalog. There is a distinctive serene magic to some of the sounds created by Brazilian artists. Grimório de Abril touches these gossamer aspects, delivering modern beats and rhythms with phantasms of worlds held within all of us.

Released on Crash Symbols in a cassette edition of one hundred and fifty. There was a small edition including a booklet by Veridiana Sanche and hand polished glass from West Virginia, these have sold out. Cassettes are still available as well as select size t-shirts with release cover artwork by Liz and Dwight Pavlovic
