Jo Bled - The Metallic Industrial Other

Lost in an endless expanse of ocean or desert, eventually the world around draws into the moment and place of being. Somewhere within the rumblings of The Metallic Industrial Other , thoughts begin to focus. Sonic waves facilitating a steady de-threading of all of the nuts fastening our responsibilities. They slowly dance with minute vibrations exposing more and more threads. Finally falling off, allowing the mental structure to crash down. Clarity begins to become exposed, like the morning fog lifting away to blue sky and sunlight. The Metallic Industrial Other is inside of all of us. We just need the time to deconstruct our personal worlds to hear and feel.

Jo Bled has beautiful rhythm. Within these two droning passages rests a pleasure to experience. The Balinese gamelan nipple-gong used in these recordings explores a completely fascinating new sonic venue for this instrument. Very refreshing to read "gamelan" in the liner notes and not have any traditional "gamelan" rhythms within the music. Unlike the ceremonial Balinese orchestral movements, the sounds from JB Ledoux (Jo Bled) are much more subdued and filled with repeat listening potential. Drone music at it's rawest level. Beautifully composed long pieces finding meditative strength within massive undercurrents and sparkling details in the sun drenched swirling surface eddies. Two strong selections for subtle tranquility.
