Windy Boijen - In a Sense

Grooves connecting continents through time. In a Sense is a sonic traveler with limitless bounds. From exotic rhythms to west coast beach harmonies, the selections within flicker and delight before changing aural temperature. Amazingly there is no figuring In a Sense out. Each selection is a sparkling splash in totally new water. African jazz serenades, seventies rock and a un-tethered spirit for sonic creation permeate these selections with brilliant clarity.

 

Have listened to In a Sense many times. Descriptive words are hard to bring together when the subject wraps around the core of existence. The most connecting feature for In a Sense is the binding to traditional instruments and sounds from them. The is almost a world folk vibe to the tracks within. Gamelan beats, Gnawa strings, Windy Boijen  spins the globe extracting sonic DNA for a species of sound beyond comprehension. Fun and intensely deep, just listen to the second track Xalam for Yari and then the third track Waiting. Freedom.
