Somewhere back in time and far from the world we know, Dr. Morbius and Robby had a jam band....   Deep in the bedrock of their planetary shell, they created strange instruments and absorbed the field recordings from the life sustaining machinery. With the addition of an old folk guitar and a broken piano brought from earth, the yearning for home can be heard in their creative melodies. Sonic qualities of the strange and foreign aural landscape they inhabit are embedded within the flowing bends of this composition. Only four selections were ever recorded and they were lost until now... 

 

If music had an easy story like this, writing would be simple. Fortunately, this album titled Meditating Amoebas, hovers beyond simple story and description. An intricate arrangement filled with nostalgic warmth, sounds for contemplation and inner reflection. Stunning fluid complexity across four tracks. Theremin like synthesizer, acoustic guitar, warbly piano, subtle electronic mayhem, both majestic and muffled voices, an underlying drone and lovely birds, all components of the sonic magic. Moments of ethereal lightness pulled to a flickering fire, then extinguished to the cold ground under foot. A composition crafted with patience and impeccable understanding of paths of a single thoughts. Where will these feelings lead? To a carefree sensation of a world drenched in sunlight warming the cool dry air around us or the shadows of a cloud obscured moon on a rainy sepulchral night? Meditating Amoebas floats on these ideas with an essence of pacific ease. A body of work filled with the conscious sustenance needed for the myriad of emotions all listeners experience. Sounds that let you explore while tethered to the toastyness of caring hearts and minds.
