Kirsten Peckham - The End Is Nigh

Kristen Peckham holds a special place in my listening adventure. The newest release titled the End Is Nigh came with a small amount of trepidation. Not in a bad sense, but more the thought of properly giving these tracks their listening dues. This takes time through many listens. It's amazing when the comfortable familiarity finally sets and The End Is Nigh just did. Listening to "In All Your Dreams" eclipsed in the conscious while watching my dogs rest their snouts on the window sill. They are looking outside wishing the they were the plants being watered. The sweet upbeat rhythms causing toes to tap, the thoughts Kirsten shares with a voice of fine serenity, these melodies saturate mind and body. And this is after the excellent opening track "The Breakaway Society" which includes the title chorus The End Is Nigh.

A collection of songs so much more than any one pathway. Excellent edgy pop tones with rockabilly vibes morphing into modern rock, folk and blurring of genres. Kristen and fellow musicians swing with an underlying groove drawing you close, while Kirsten's vocals are revealed as gorgeously real. The biggest takeaway from letting The End Is Nigh sink in is a very musically adept composition that is effortlessly complex. Thirteen tracks, diverse, fluid and completely enjoyable.

This is the newest release on Crush Grove Records out of Bloomington, Indiana. Released on compact disc and currently available from the Crush Grove bandcamp page.
