Vernal Scuzz - s/t

From sunken depths of discarded shards of noise and thought, Vernal Scuzz surfaces. Adjusted mayhem reigned in through a raw foundation of drums and base. Like magic, "Hocus Pocus Cokola" is the grooved out theme of how exquisitely diverse and fluid this album is. In this six minute track, Vernal Scuzz folds  genres up to deliver a sonic envelope sealed with a winking smiley face. The melodic impressiveness continues with vocals added to "Lingo" and many of the following selections. There is a feel of an early eighties angst but this is tempered with vocal harmonies and creative prowess in the details for aural accord. Vernal Scuzz seems to constantly be in metamorphosis. The eighth track "Hexaco" is an excellent example, ethereal folk openings to angular guitar/vocals, then full punk uproar. The consistent change continues with the last track "Nocturnal Life" having a touch of sonic note from the Residents. Just thoughts on a few selections from this very sublime debut recording.
