Colin Andrew Sheffield - Serenade
Listening with fascination to Serenade. Deep within each selection is a focal point, the place where transformations begin. What we hear now, the final resting point, a beautiful other worldly nexus created with much time, care and experience. The original sounds subdued in their moment, they ignited and jittered, moved in chaotic patterns, raised pitch, changed decibels, all methods of escape from being ensnared by Colin Andrew Sheffield. These natural reactions of where sounds flee are the true beauty within Serenade. Understanding the particularity, constitution and pliability, has enabled Colin to use a gentle creative essence. Instead of crafting new and different, there persists a natural path back to the source. For some selections this is a long walk, a guide would be needed, but in order to have accord to the compositional gathering place, necessary. The sonic tethers connecting origins to the serene and haunting eventualities each selection has undergone, are the woven aural gorgeousness making Serenade complete. Working with twelve pieces, Colin Andrew Sheffield has spun an aurally silky dodecahedron. Elegantly harmonious, each sonic anchor disappearing from the soul-stirring center they support.
