Storm Ross - La Tormenta

Are these sounds bordering on chaos and fueled by mysterious energy? One hundred percent yes, but before summing it all up into one or two descriptive blah, blah, blahs, deeper listening is needed. First, as with any beautiful composition, La Tormenta includes sonic diversity.  Frenzied guitar work and edge of your seat receiving, transition to a world of wavering ambience and cosmic sonic vistas. La Tormenta plays like an explosion in the consciousness and soon after the initial detonation, a saturation of steady melody and rhythm fill the emptied space. This composition is gorgeous balance between vigorous guitar angles and imperturbable melodic bliss. A very wonderful treat from Storm Ross.

As far as the cassette is laid out, the A side is the mind bender and the B side is the slow burner. Each of which is no where close to the extremes of noise or drone, but rather well concocted aural recipes for radiant excellence. Storm Ross' title track "The Reappraisal of La Tormenta" is a twenty minute dizzying dance of tight guitar work with slow steam roll of heavy percussion.  Brought to ears by only the pair, Storm Ross on guitars and stuff and Jeremy Edwards all things percussion. The track builds to a crescendo, subsides for listening footholds and summits a new sonic peak. The second side has two long selections, both still filled with penetrating radiance but at a lower dosage from the tilt of La Tormenta. The final track "Rise, Like a Wrath" is the closest to a traditional instrumental rock song. Storm Ross just letting us know that's easily covered as well.

Released on cassette by Fenggrosso Music, i think this is a Storm Ross label. There are one hundred physical copies in the edition and they are currently available. The first solo album in nearly four years!
