Corwin Trails - Wolf Songs Folk Songs

The connective fibers of the physical and spiritual glide effortlessly on this sonic journey. Extending percussion as the root, a sublime resonance traveling through the world. Like a bamboo plant with extra ordinary abilities, tubers running through the core, new sprouts appearing on continents and islands from east to west. This budding growth gathering radiation and photosynthesizing focus in rhythm and patience. Wolf Songs Folk Songs can be a cool canopy to rest under or a sun drenched warm hilltop field, but this requires an investment from each listener. Discovering how music rests within thoughts and how feelings are soothed or even agitated for that matter, takes time. The compositions tremendous diversity and complex patterns is like a heavy shower of rain. Listening under covered shelter a few times eventually provides the soundness to feel comfortable getting soaked.

Corwin Trails is the yoke pulling music heritage and innovation. Ten tracks, constellations in the night sky. Outlines in sound resting in current temporal sonic state. Beauty finding place in what remains unreachable, Corwin Trails rhythmic composites are like undiscovered elements within the planet's crust. An instrument especially crafted for this composition is what produces the gamelan tone and faint flickering pattern to music of Indonesia, but Wolf Songs Folk Songs steps in an alternate path. Almost a glitch of these traditional brass ensembles. Sometimes sounding more akin to guzheng. Then side stepping once again with banjo on one track and some very well placed spoken words. Creating another aspect of these harmonies are field recordings from around the world and actual sounds from the forests of Corwin Trails home in Michigan. After many listens, one comparison that came to mind a few times is the album Lost and Safe by The Books.

Wolf Songs Folk Songs was arranged and produced by Samuel Vandiver who is Corwin Trails. Not sure how many copies are in this edition, but from reading, this is a self released composition by Samuel, not on a label. The two places to read more and purchase are Corwin Trails bandcamp page and the home site.
