Maraton - s/t

A sonic swarm of birds settling in tree tops. The cacophonous din of squawking slowly becoming more and more synchronous. After the weight of this aural adjustment finds solace in a rooted position, the world above begins a rhythmic dance of blissful clarity. The orchestra quiets as a storm rumbles through, ambience of the land always the the thick blanket thrown on when it wants. Sleeping music awakes to warming rays of energy. The melodies follow the moods of the day, morning vitality, afternoon laziness and evening creativity. The canopy of sounds takes flight in random adjustments, leaving sonic focal points to continue their ritualistic calls.

Maraton is star like radiance filtered by clouds and trees. A harmonic natural beauty with tethers in flora, fauna and the cosmos. Four musicians, Christian Haase, Maria Dybbroe, Lasse Sonne and Jonathan Ludvigsen, using synthesizers, horns, piano and percussion. Each selection tempered with creative wisdom, less being all that is required. With so much sonic armament at hand, this bestows a feeling of powerful possibilities, all restrained for listener's digestive abilities. Fifteen tracks finding resonance with Fourth World Vol. 1. Like a distant descendant, Maraton holds decisive clarity in the future generation. And this might be the best desription, Maraton has an undercurrent of surging power, but delivers only the amplitude needed to stir the conscious.  Fourth World Vol. 1 sits on the the same precipice, almost ambient, but not at all.

Released on Barefoot Record on compact disc. Each disc is housed in a DVD case with artwork by Tobias Holmbeck. The Maraton release follows a beautiful vinyl release, Caktus - Under Solen also on Barefoot Records. This was described on Lost in a Sea of Sound last year. Maria Dybbroe one of the four artists on Maraton connects with Under Solen and farther back to Køs - An Uncaught Bird on the Forlaget Kornmod label also described on Lost in a Sea of Sound last year. This continuation of highly creative and gorgeous music from Denmark needs to be listened to closely, truly is a stunning time to be alive.
