Solid Waste - City Of The Cosmos

Solid Waste crossing the listening path of Lost in a Sea of Sound for the third time. City Of The Cosmos taking spires of crystalline brilliance to the hearts of all who listen. Following previous described releases from an earlier time on Dismal Niche, the newest on Distant Bloom begins deeper in the gooey ambient mire of feverishly green grass floating on spongy earth. From here the day begins, radiant energy the sustenance for all things to grow. Building like a hyperbolic curve, with the middle tracks sparkling sonic angles while beginning and end both grow and dissolve into a world absent of edges. Beauty is carried like civilizations inception and demise, nothing, everything then nothing again.

City Of The Cosmos is really a beautiful marriage of earlier releases, Long Slow Dream and Visions (both still available from Dismal Niche). Charming innocence muddled with patience turned visionary and purposeful. These attributes have woven together producing sounds of simplistic beauty and clarity. "Morning Coffee" and "Designing Waterfalls" effortlessly impart connective feelings with the natural world around us. "Friends Of The Earth" reminding us of the places we herald from. The title track "City Of The Cosmos" perches on the edge, composed of both nature and man made wonders. The longest track "Deep Forest Portal" is a meditative beacon, a place for the spirit to easily find and begin a journey. The final track "Wave" sends consciousness on paths only known to those who listen. Solid Waste has collected sonic beauty, making new splendor from the places they have grown.

Released on Distant Bloom in an edition of seventy cassettes. City Of The Cosmos is the last album of Nate Bethel, Josh Kahl, and Mario Martinez before they dissolved Solid Waste a few years ago. Both of their previous releases are excellent, but City Of The Cosmos seems to be represent their creative ability the best, in all of their beautiful sonic directions. Physical copies are available from Distant Bloom. The label also has a three cassette bundle option for additional in stock releases.
