Tereshkova - Beefy Chiffon

Disney World recently overhauled the Electric Light Parade, a spectacular event held each evening just before the park closes. Being from Florida, this restructure was in the news. After listening to the perfect soundtrack, Tereshkova's Beefy Chiffon, there was a thought to help with better music for the parade  The initial listen was given the nod by an old friend working in the parks redevelopment department, the stage was set to have Beefy Chiffon be played for one of the test nights of the parade's week long trial run.

Why Beefy Chiffon? The answer, this is a composition of pure creative pageantry. The sounds within effortlessly connect with the sparkle of dancing electric lights. The opening track "Punchdrunk" is an excellent example of this symbiosis. Tereshkova creating melodies exploding in slow motion, like a grenade filled with non lethal sonic fragments. Filled with a myriad of rhythms and harmonies, "Punchdrunk" will fit perfectly in this parade since it's basically a long run of beautiful individual segments. The continuity of not just the first track, but entire Beefy Chiffon composition holds firmly from start to finish. Along with the opening regal deluge of prismatic aural energy, there are tracks diving into emotions and introspection. "Tenderhearted Humanoid" is a subtle shift into the reflective discourse of why we are all here. This change in timbre is important, since different floats in the parade usher changing emotions. "Trash Mountain" is another more sombre piece filled with inner thoughts of our effect upon the space we inhabit. All excellent reasons why Beefy Chiffon works so well in the this nighttime phantasma of lights. We are radiated with fantastically bizarre wonder, drawn in to experience new emotions while being saturated with incredible sounds.

The evening Beefy Chiffon played as the parade theme is one to remember. The children, those about ten and younger, had faces of jubilee. They danced and wiggled to the music as the parade drifted by. A sight full of joy and a pure pleasure to behold. The older kids and parents were completely dumbfounded. The light parade, music, and kids dancing, rung up question marks in their faces. They should enjoy this, but the music was beyond rationalization for them. And then there were the old time regulars, the year long ticket holders that took in over fifty parades a year. The look of absolute horror on their faces said more to the Disney auditors then anything else happening with the group. As the crowd dispersed after the parade, kids hopped and bounced while walking away holding their parents hands. Murmurs of "what was that" whispered by. The back of grey haired heads turned sided to side in a clear annunciation of "No". Beefy Chiffon only had one run, but is was truly incredible.

This is the third description for Tereshkova on Lost in a Sea of Sound. Five years ago, Golden Tomgirl was the first on Never Anything Records. A year after that was Dream Automaton on Already Dead Tapes and Records. So Beefy Chiffon is a long overdue third description for Tereshkova. This is a very limited edition of only fifty cassettes. Beautiful artwork and presentation by the label Fort Evil Fruit out of Ireland. Copies are currently available but both Tereshkova and Fort Fruit Evil have a big following, so they will not last.
