German Army - Passage Through Selk'nam Hain Ceremony

The base radiates through the house. This is my conscious, "the house", the rhythms are looking for me. I meet them with the proper adjustments. We are together now. Passage Through Selk'nam Hain Ceremony works in only one manner. Loud and with the base heavily turned. Believe me.... my small jbl speaker on the bicycle, the long car ride with the bandcamp stream, they get you close, but the limitations.... I needed a new experience for Passage Through Selk'nam Hain Ceremony. I needed higher volume and deeper base. The vinyl record on the good stereo is exactly why you have it. Music on a small portable speaker is not the same as the comfort and decibel freedoms of home. I have learned this so well with repeated listens of Passage Through Selk'nam Hain Ceremony.

Traveling on the sonic pathway, listening for the final click of the safe lock before release. Many times the door fails to open. Timing is off, moods of music and person listening miss their accord. Listen enough times though and sentiment for the album begins to brighten. There is a nostalgia providing warmth, a thought of familiarity propelling what is heard to new places. In this listening world, the pre-listens were good, but the true listen of stylus on vinyl was the safe lock click for me. For fans of German Army reading this, this is another spectacular release. On heavy vinyl, beautifully assembled with fold out poster within. For any who are new to German Army, please start right here with Passage Through Selk'nam Hain Ceremony. This release possesses the rooted elements of all compositions before, and the bright green leaves of clarity as new life. Also the sheer volume of material on this Long Island Electrical Systems double vinyl release is all what German Army is about as well. Getting lost in the rhythm and beats, guitar and electronics, nostalgic tones of the past and future patterns being currently unveiled. And let us look at the title of this composition, as always German Army with a history lesson of forgotten peoples and struggles. This time the Selk'nam, indigenous peoples of Patagonia. The Hain was their ceremony of teens becoming adults. The sun is a man and the moon a women... Unfortunately, pretty much completely exterminated by European settlers in the early part of the 1900's. Music, art and history combining to be a beautiful creative element.

Vinyl copies are available from L.I.E.S. Records site. The level of production quality by the label needs a note. The use of anti-static inner record sleeves is a small feature but it is something thast is much appreciated. The six panel fold out poster (picture below) connects with the nostalgia of everything making up a well curated vinyl release. So Long Island Electrical Systems checks all boxes and adds a heart to their physical products. Not sure how many in this run, but many releases in the L.I.E.S. Records catalog are sold out. So do not wait on this one.
