Sullow / The Silver Field - Betwixt & Between 8

The sonic world is gently imploding. Harmonies and rhythms loosing congruence as the centrifugal forces cause a shed of resonance from being so tightly bound. There is so much beauty here. Space opening up for musicians and instruments to sail across aural seas. Intuitive creativity is the breeze propelling a collaboration of three artists. The structures of their past rest barely seen, peeking above the reverse horizon. Jacken Elswyth picking banjo, Daniel S. Evans playing guitar, and Joshua Barfoot with all sense of percussion, three artist crisscrossing paths like porpoise traveling together. They play, then drift apart, finally converging together to repeat the process again. There is mild ferocity and then tranquil glides, harmonies splashing back to cacophony. Sullow is special and these sounds warm hearts with how free they are.

A Betwixt & Between tape with the above description for just the first side. As with the seven editions before number eight, split tapes have been the way. The second side of Betwixt & Between 8, holds four tracks by The Silver Field. I would like to say, or copy and paste a hundred times, "Thank you Jacken". You have shared so many incredible artists on the Betwixt & Between label and The Silver Field is another exceptional discovery for me. The droning beginnings of "Godless/Doglegs" coupled with the singing of Coral Rose is absolutely astonishing. As this track picks up rhythm.... completely sucked in. Like the sounds of Sullow, The Silver Field harbors sonic emotions and channels this energy with gorgeous patience. Be careful listening to The Silver Field, they have a couple records available you will want to pick up, but the four songs on Betwixt & Between 8 are incredible and only available on the split.

There are one hundred editions of Betwixt & Between 8 on cassette and twenty CDrs. The quantities are down to sixteen and five respectively (as this is written). This is an end of January release and it's going quickly, so don't miss it.
