wipe - coral

The light fluctuates with radiant energy in peripheral vision. Sounds cross through the conscious like squares being dragged by stings. They topple over in rhythmic cadence only to echo their frictional resistance again. Vibrations increase as the music shutters in transcendental flux. The spirit is touched and gently pulled away from the physical stasis. Coral is an aural landscape of detailed sonic animation, a place where cold sculptures of sound have been infused with creative imaginative warmth.

 

Wipe is a bit of a mystery. There is a preceding cassette release on the Georgia label Adversary from 2020. A tape in an edition of forty with the same title "wipe".  There is also a bandcamp page for wipe, but beyond this there is really no information on the person or people behind wipe and their extraordinary rhythmic soundscapes. The newest release titled coral seems to bend genres, dance and drone, electronic grooves and the crash of the unknown. This is a composition holding gorgeous syllogisms of sonic reasoning, fractured noise pieced together to create a small piece of wipe's oeuvre.

Coral is released on Hooker Vision in a very limited run of cassettes. There are currently six remaining from twenty five at the time this is written. There are also a few cassettes left of the same title release, wipe, on Adversary. Coral is a beautiful choice in the the new Hooker Vision gear up.
