Water Shrews - s/t

Slowly roasting in controlled turbulence, sonic tendrils gently season the conscious. A creative and controlled balance of raw organic sounds. Aural pathways meandering like vines, extending outward from the root far below. Water Shrews pull from the hearth of tradition, touching folk energies from the past and broadcasting a metamorphism of splendor. From droning hurdy-gurdy like bliss to delicately distant hammer dulcimer rhythms, Water Shrews capture the essence of heart and creativity. Their skills for delivering refreshingly beautiful warmth are supremely patient and thoughtful.

Emmet Martin and Skyler Pia are the duo making up Water Shrews. This fifty minute cassette with two side long pieces is their debut. The sounds within escape genres with graceful sonic motion. Listeners float and drift through aural changes manifesting like seasons in a year. Tonal temperament overlapping with seamless fluidity. From the doldrums of hot still nights to the morning winds of radiant fueled fronts, Water Shrews change harmonic accord with natural force. We listen within the subtle changes in sonic strength, energized by forces of both growth and erosion.

Released in cassette format by Drongo Tapes from Seattle, Washington. Physical copies are in an edition of seventy five with only six remaining at the time this is written.
