RNL - the living things

The world has revolved over twelve thousand times since the first sounds were recorded for this compilation. A sonic menagerie lasting though time's centrifugal force. An aural foundation somehow gathering the cohesiveness of the conscious' centripetal force. The Living Things is a very appropriate title as the sounds within breath and photosynthesize with natural ease. These recordings seem to travel up and down escalators, conduits through atmospheres, dimensions, solids and ethereal mist. We listen in a stationary space as The Living Things bestows an underlying current of subdued energy. A mysterious soundscape constantly drawing thoughts in, obscure but in the same instance an ignition of what is already inside all of us.

RNL is the long running project of Jesse Farber. This is a collaborative work over a long period of time. Past and present members of Jesse's RNL project include Fleawig, Nøsferatu, Ms. Anthropy, un-d.t., Loopis, Rusty Pipewater, and Mr. a/b. With pieces in this compilation reaching back to 1990, recordings from around the world and a revolving group of artists, The Living Things is beyond detailed documentation. This compilation is also close to an hour in length, with fluidity resting in a gently tweaked ambient space. The duration and sonic bleed into the transcendental make The Living Things an amazing thought fuel for deep contemplation.

Excellent work by all artists involved with the long running project of Jesse Farber and the label Cosmic Winnetou for producing a piece with so much material over a long period of time. The Living Things is seamlessly fluid and an absolute pleasure to plunge deeply in. Artwork for this cassettes and the other two releases in Cosmic Winnetou's twenty-first batch is created by Silvana Llieva. Tapes are sold out from the label but are still available from the artist.
