Günter Schlienz - Novellen
Novellen is a new release on the Cosmic Winnetou label. Two side long pieces crafted by the intensely experienced Günter Schlienz. This sonic journey begins with the selection titled Kind Der Sonne or in English loosely translated to child of the sun. With a cacophonous introduction, the passage warms slightly. Static, heartbeats, spoken word, meditation chimes, all alternate ground for Günter Schlienz. A myriad of sonic selections woven with a futuristic frequency current. A fluid connective medium transporting listeners deep into inspirations from writers Anton Tschechov & Nikolai Gogol. About two thirds of the way in to Kind Der Sonne, Günter Schlienz forms sound into a more traditional sonic stage from his immense proficiency. This is short lived as the second side kicks off. Das Meer is spacious, mysterious, empty and haunting. There is a growing gorgeous angst that follows this listening path. An aural acuity paired at points with a deep and garbled voice? Difficult to determine what creature has come to pronounce their involvement, but this adds perfectly to the lurking feeling Günter Schlienz has composed. Novellen is excellent from start to finish with diversity and coherence bound in perpetual symbioses.
Released on the Cosmic Winnetou out of Stuttgart, Germany. Cassettes are currently available from the Cosmic Winnetou bandcamp page. Novellen is in a limited run of only sixty editions.
