Nick Storring - Mirante

Intricate sonic presentation, like gears turning within a watch. Nick Storring has keen creativity on how sounds work together. Ambience ratcheted up to include a strong connection of rhythms to the foundations of music origins. In this album titled Mirante, the focal point is mentioned as Brazil. The aural tilt has an Amazon jungle vibe, but this could easily be the south pacific or even far east. Notes of Gamelan gongs mixed with tribal drums and the Brazilian Cuica all meld beautifully in this selection. Near the beginning there is even a moment sparking thoughts of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. The following selection, Falta De Ar goes full percussion trailing off to an ambient interlude bridging over to the following track, Parque Tingui, a heavier meditater void of any percussion. The last track continues the theme of the opening two with this one being titled Roxa III. This is the longest on the album and flies low across the entire compositions aural landscape. Roxa III includes many sound aspects building from the sonic steps we traveled to enjoy this moment.
