P'derrigerreo - The G is Soft

About a year and a half ago Lost in a Sea of Sound had the pleasure of listening and attempting to describe P'derrigerreo's “Live in (a) Basement” release on the s P L e e N C o F F i N label. The next release, The G is Soft sets down in a different manner. The final track on “Live in (a) Basement” is titled The Endless House, a twenty minute sink into a warbled world of samples, vocals, drone and mayhem. Definitely sounds from the fringe, receptive by a small number of aural armadillos. The release here, The G is Soft, has returned from the sonic threshold. Thirteen selections of quirky songs, filled with harmony and melodies. Not anywhere near mainstream, but much more accessible for a new listener beginning to explore P'derrigerreo. This is absolutely a striking album! The style on The G is Soft touches on many loved bands, Budokan Boys, Residents, King Missile, Woods are a few that come to mind. These are just a few thoughts to help bring The G is Soft into more understandable focus. The song writing and performance on this composition are completely unique and excellently crafted. Personally, this is one of my favorite cups of sonic tea. The energetic, raw and cacophonous qualities almost hide how polished and professional these selections are. The G is Soft is also lengthy, almost forty minutes of music. Enough sounds and diversity to get lost in over multiple listens.

Released on Gleamer Disk, cassettes with different color artwork on each edition. This is the first release on New York  based label. Hand-risographed & hand-dubbed, physical copies are currently available.
