Zeynep Toraman – a lifetime of annotations
A Lifetime of Annotations resonates deeply within the intertwined reach of heart and mind. Two lengthy compositions in slow breath, sounds blurring between inhalation and exhalation. Listening catches us on the edge, morning light revealing silhouettes, then colorizing the lines within. Just as easily the slow fade from perception recessing into the creative density of individual conscious. The composer Zeynep Toraman, shares a long moment of reflection. An understated calmness given the ferocity violins, cellos and violas can gravitate towards. These are passages to absorb in solitude, sounds augmenting the strengths of feelings mingled with thought.
The title track, String Trio -A Lifetime of Annotations is played by Clara Levy, violin; Biliana Voutsckova, violin; Judith Hamann, cello. This was recorded by Roy Carroll and Mike Majkowski at DARA String Festival - Michelberger Hotel, Berlin. The following selection, Slow Poem (v.2) is played by Maya Bennardo, violin and Hannah Levinson, viola. This was recorded by Bernd Klug at The Crypt at Church of the Intercession, New York City, NY.
Another completely gorgeous release by the Texas label Sawyer Editions. This label is a spectacular gateway to current incredible composers and artists. Available on compact disc on it's own or optional Batch #8 Bundle.
