SiP/Prezzano - s/t

Image
Melodies rich with creative energy. Focus is from a culture filled world creating sounds over generations. Ragas, gamelan and courtly music for king and queen are only a few of the thoughts these sounds will be your escort for. We listen in meditative states while a prismatic array of higher aural vibrations fills the spirit. Happiness in a sonic groove traveling through gardens of mushrooms and bright green moss. Rhythms suspended in crystal clear pools, turning like like schools of fish with seamless synchronicity. These sounds are sweet, the energy bestowed even sweeter.   This SiP/Prezzano composition is the combined work of Jimmy Lacy (synthesizers, drum box and percussion) and Pete Prezzano (modular synth and melodica). Four long tracks opening with bright sunlight and sparkling blue skies. The scene can be anywhere, a rocky outcropping laced with water following gravity's pull or a beach with hammocks swaying from towering palm trees. The second selection Thuringian Forest,

Carlo Giustini - Il Rituale é Abitudine

Image
Looking into the world seems easy to do. Stay still and observe all that is around. This is like peering into the night sky to see flickering stars and bright planets. The question is, when we look do we feel? The natural space around us is beautiful, the infinite array of stars above most fascinating, but many times we are just observers through passing windows. Il Rituale é Abitudine changes this scenario for those who listen. The music is like a key moving the tumblers that unlocks the window, allowing the energy only seen to be absorbed and felt deep within.    Carlo Giustini has been on a highly prolific run of compositions in the last few years. Multiple releases across a variety of labels in the last few years. This lands the Treviso, Italy resident on Pennsylvania's Orb Tapes with a cassette release titled Il Rituale é Abitudine. Six tracks totaling in with well over an hour of beauty. A difficult to describe quality from Carlo Giustini rests in these sounds. Taking emotion

Rrill Bell - False Flag Rapture

Image
In synchronicity with geologic time periods, the curtain is slowly pulled open for Rrill Bell's False Flag Rapture. Within each long sustained moment, sonic elements emerge and dissolve. Like time periods for fault block mountains, the grandeur of the Himalayas, and the eroded beauty of the Appalachians. We hear distant sounds, wisps of water vapor from unreachable peaks, and familiar melodies, intimate passages from families gathering for holidays. False Flag Rapture reveals the subtle quietness of consciousness, a parlay of thoughts creating thoughts and a willingness to share personal emotions of both concern and joy. Rrill Bell's False Flag Rapture is divided by the flip of a cassette, but the two long tracks on each side play as one complete composition. The aural landscape within is a beautifully mysterious juxtaposed world of vast expanses and elaborate detail. Imagine looking out the viewing window of a spacecraft while hearing the computers and machinery within perform

Jacken Elswyth - Banjo with the sound of its own making

Image
The most important aspect of music is it's raw quality. This is certainly an opinion of one listener, but does this thought resonate with you? We so often hear music at pinnacles of adept playing skills and production prowess, but what if we are treated to the making of the instruments? Sounds involved with crafting and tooling of our favorite instruments. The ultimate rawness of an instrument in the manufacturing process, before even being able to be played. Jacken Elswyth has the creative chops to deliver something that has never been done before (that i know of). Combining sounds from the wood shop with banjo genius, highest praise from this listener.   Banjo with the sound of its own making includes eight selections of dazzling undressed field recordings with highly skilled and utterly creatively adept banjo playing. A best of two worlds, something raw, being hand crafted and a finished product to compliment. And as with many Jacken Elswyth compositions, a brilliant sonic relay

Oxherding - An Echo Across The Lake

Image
A cool breeze blows under overcast sky ushering in the darkening hours of night. Flames flicker and wave from the fire burning close. Warmth and light becoming a companion for the cold and unseen surrounding world. An Echo Across The Lake is like the fire, so natural in it's essence, providing a nostalgic sense of security in the infinite expanse. Sounds within hanging suspended, gently dancing with bright energy. The sonic current emanating like the coals in the fire, glowing in indescribable hues of orange and red.  Oxherding adds a new composition to a growing handful of full length releases. An Echo Across The Lake contains two side long tracks finding aural boundaries in just under thirty minutes. Fitz Hartwig the sole force behind Oxherding has maintained a beautiful focus of creativity. Vibrant drone that lifts the spirit, sonic details sparkling in radiant patterns similar to rays of sunlight through tree filled canopies. An Echo Across The Lake is of highest definition an

Anarchist Mountains - A Balkan Spacewalk

Image
Ready yourselves for a lengthy submergence in thick mediums warm tranquility. Anarchist Mountains has found rest with Tokyo, Japan's Alien Garage label. The result is a gorgeous composition titled A Balkan Spacewalk. Brothers Jordan & Stefan Christoff steadily building on their Anarchist Mountain's project with a full hand of releases. This one is super limited in cassette form with an edition run of only thirty five.  A Balkan Spacewalk contains seven tracks coming in around forty five minutes in length. A heavy in the cassette world with an atmosphere that equals. But, the sounds themselves are not as dense. The beauty of this composition is the float tank like complete saturation, with an ethereal solacing warmth. The acoustic guitar helps find a root filled nostalgic center. Field recordings and synthesizer create the distant and beautiful aurora borealis of difficult to reach nirvana. These sonic approaches combined together ooze healing energy for the spirit. The plea

Rob Collier - Moving Backwards

Image
The transition from carrying the burdens of the day to stepping outside the patterns we follow is a desired movement for all of us. We are caught in currents from wake till sleep, beautiful details of the world blurring to become irrelevant. Then something happens.... a ray of sunlight reflects in a sparkle on the water, a breeze pushes leaves and branches with a graceful uplift, a full moon creates magnificent shadows from passing cumulus clouds or music becomes focused and the melodies of Rob Collier settle in.  Moving Backwards is the title to this gorgeous composition by Rob Collier. Five tracks of solo piano playing with all respect to the movement of time in nature. Rob's internal rhythms are like the crystallization of water or it's counter action of slowly melting away. Follow an autumn leaf on a journey down a wooded tributary, it moves in the most peaceful chaotic motion, rest in pools and then finds a flowing path to venture on. Like the piano pieces Rob Collier play

Body Image CEO - from In these difficult times.... now more than ever... at the end of the day..... Pepsi

The business conference has been long. Thoughts of sitting through another day of motivational lectures based on epiphanies of life is tedious to think about. Fortunately this is the last day and we will be graced by the presence of the company's CEO. Are the rumors of his time living with a hunting and gathering tribe on the African continent true? Supposedly he excelled at ritualistic drumming and gathered celebrity status in the local trade villages. It will be good to hear a talk on business practices from a more worldly and wider point of view than the "yes" people ladder climbers as well as the "been there, done that" speakers. Wow, on lunch recess now and wanted to reflect on the first hour of the CEO's state of the company talk. Everything delivered by a dreamy and authoritative voice, like a soothing father figure. Interesting how he seemed to ever so slightly bob back and forth while talking, like he was listening to secret rhythms in his head. Als

Jeff Surak - Eris I Dysnomia

Image
Long lengths of aural expanses fueled by experience and wise creativity. We listen floating on rafts in the ocean. The artist controlling sonic space. Dreamy stars above as tranquil rocking motion soothes concerns, blistering heat baking skin and mind, and hellish swells arriving unseen in the night expanse. Jeff Surak throws listeners and life rafts overboard. The sounds he shares are intense transitions in ambient beauty. The first side of Eris I Dysnomia is one long piece titled Parasite Lost. An incredible diversity of aural landscapes held tightly in check. Jeff Surak provides restful warmth, mind frazzling single tones and subtle mysteries for imaginations to ponder. The flip of the cassette introduces shorter selections paced with erosive forces of nature. Jeff Surak creating micro environments where sounds create individual worlds to get lost in. The longest of the four tracks on this side, “Asphalt Muzak” is the overshadowing example. A drip of a faucet echoing

MANURE MOVERS OF OF AMERICA - Solid Waste

Image
There are rhythms pulsating in the density of existence. Most of the time the world is moving in rapid chaos, only ears to the ground or keen sensory individuals can hear these foundational sonic waves. A massive current of droning energy, electrons moving through solid mass like a swarm of ants. When listeners tap in, the discovery fills imaginations with evolutionary familiarity. These sounds are part of us and have been all around, once again Manure Movers of of America can help us tune in.   Already Dead Tapes and Records has worked to release the third album for Manure Movers of of America. Titled Solid Waste, these selections have complete congruence with both Cassette Tape #2 and Cut The Shit, both earlier releases also brought to ears by Already Dead Tapes and Records. There is a difference with Solid Waste though, the harsh noise dial has been turned down just a bit while the raw electronic drone knob has been increased. A love song titled, "Fell in Love at the Tractor Pu

Adam Pacione - Any Way, Shape, or Form

Image
In the depths of consciousness thoughts trudge through the mires of sorrows and joys. Like on land, each step saturated with water, each step an effort to move forward. This intertwining of physical mediums creates an environment of time slowed movement. Details of the surrounding world become sharply visible, beauty uniquely attuned. Through this saturated soil, minds are focused towards paths of tedious steps to tranquility. The journey to grow love and compassion having difficult steps through spongy ground. This journey lasts a lifetime and always surfaces in the moments we spend alone. Enter the sounds from Adam Pacione. Gorgeously long selections balanced with perfect amounts of hopefulness and despair. An odyssey for the nexus of thoughts finding the magnificence in the tangles we move through.   In 2009, Adam Pacione had a run of recordings titled the "Still Life" series, available on 3in CDRs and offered through subscription on his label Bee Eater Recordings .
