navel - im norden

Have been swirling in the sounds of im norden for some weeks now. The passages within holding wobbly focus on warm nostalgia twisted with the emptiness time and space leave behind. A composition providing both distantly glowing radiant hope and disappearing ghostly images of lore. Each selection is a page turn through a found photo album, forgotten souls smiling in the forefront of machinery long removed. There is a coldness permeating im norden, but this is warmly wrapped with patient sentiment and bow tied with cacophonous twisted ribbon. A sonic gift by Navel with all components creating a gorgeous package.

Navel is the long running project of Gage and Floyd. Lost in a Sea of Sound went as far back as the Cosmic Winnetou release The Gnome's Pond, but Navel began creating sound together twenty years before that. This time frame roughly makes im norden a twenty five year in the making composition. With six tracks total on this recording, there are two long ones, "tune into the nautical dawn" and "point sirius observatory at mornings". They are both completely different, the first a more haunting ethereal foray into lost radio signals reduced to faint whispers and the second a dreamy whisk into cosmic electronic mist gently paddled with settling guitar. Together and with the remaining shorter selections, im norden is a very complex outing, bound with an inner tonality the makes everything strikingly fluid.

Released on cassette by Cosmic Winnetou in a very limited edition of fifty. This was part of the twentieth bundle from the label. Woww!. Copies are currently available as well as the entire cwXX bundle.
